Christmas Begins with Hope – Even in Caracas
Sometimes, words fail us.There are stories where no introduction seems strong enough to do justice to what has happened. So we’ll skip the opening lines and go straight to a story that speaks for itself:
Luis and Virginia, just six and four years old, spent months sleeping under their terminally ill mother’s bed. Not because it was comfortable – but because it was the only place where they still felt somewhat safe. Their mother could no longer get up, and the siblings struggled each day to survive on their own.
They had no relatives to care for them. No food. No school. No safety. When their mother passed away, so did the last bit of hope in their hearts. The children were completely aloneuntil the police found them and brought them to Hogar Bambi, a children’s home in the heart of Caracas that we’ve been supporting for many years with the help of our donors.
Erika Spillmann, our project leader, still remembers the day Luis and Virginia arrived. Her voice breaks when she speaks about it. Two small, frightened children with tear-stained faces and empty stomachs – utterly alone in the world. But Hogar Bambi became the beginning of a new story.
Today, Luis and Virginia live in safety. They are lovingly cared for, receive an education, and are finally free to be children again. They experience warmth and affection – and they hear about the God who never forgot them. Their eyes are beginning to shine once more. Hope has returned. And that’s thanks to people like you.
A place like Hogar Bambi, which offers over 100 children safety, care, and a future, can only continue to exist through donations. That’s why we are reaching out to you one last time this year: Help us keep Hogar Bambi a place of light, love, and new beginnings – especially this Christmas.
Give hope. Give a future.
Become part of a new Christmas story.
